I have been trying to acquire a few films for an online showing I’m going to be running soon on another website. Here is the basic summary of it:
4 films received from LoveFilm. Overall, an excellent service for getting films if they have them in stock at the time you want them.
1 film found on my hard drive, given to me by my brother who got it from his friend. It is assumed to be torrented.
2 films attempted to purchase in town. This failed! So I will have to torrent them.
Overall, LoveFilm was a success, I had 4 films from them. I tried to buy two films, only to fail at finding them so I will have to torrent them. I can not be blamed for not trying, if the film industry had provided me with copies available to purchase in the shops, then I would not be downloading them. The DVD shops are unsustainable like this, they aren’t making enough money and soon enough we won’t have any DVD shops on the high street. Failure at the DVD shops for not providing the service required?

The server move is complete already. That was rather quick and painless!

We’re moving servers (same host, new service). So expect a bit of downtime when this happens (time unknown).
But it will upgrade the capacity: more bandwidth, more space (files and db), upgraded version of PHP. And it costs less per month. I may have to set up stuff again for wordpress and phpBB if it doesn’t like the new db/php, so yeah

I’ve made a facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/ActualAnime/350981424937967
I will promote this later, but for now it is more of a holding page/account. Twitter is my main focus at the moment.

The site now has twitter integration (sort of). All new posts should show on twitter.
I still need to add a twitter menu to the sidebar, showing recent tweats from the website accont. Buuut it’s still looking good!

I have re-opened the forums.
From now on, when a user registers they will have to provide a justification as to why they want to register. This is sent to my email address. I will activate a user if they appear to be a human (as opposed to a bot).
If there’s any problems with this, then please contact me.

There has been another invasion of spam bots on the forum. As a temporary measure, I have disabled all forum activity. The forum will be up again once I have found a suitable defence against the bots.
If you wish to register on the site, please email me using the “contact” form and I will happily contact you when the site is back again!

Sooooo, AnimeLeague have opened up the online registrations for both Alcon and LAC5. I have been to these in the past, and I am going again. Who else is going?

LAC website: http://www.londonanimecon.com

The old (smf) forum has been removed, and phpBB3 installed in its place. I have also activated the wordpress to phpBB3 bridge. You will only need to register once on the forum, and you should also have permission to comment on the news items (**to be tested).
As well as members, I am looking for staff to help the website grow and to help run the site. In particular, I need content writers. If you want to write something interesting (like your favourite anime, for example) then register on the forum and drop me a PM. I will then add you as an Author.
